**UPDATE**

After discussion at November's Public Facilities Committee meeting, staff was instructed to make further clarifications to the Ordinance to bring forward in the New Year. Further amendments have been made, and the item will be coming forward to the Public Facilities Committee for discussion on Tuesday, January 20. Please submit your comments below by the morning January 20 so they may be forwarded to the Committee.

All comments will be shared with Council Members prior to the meeting. This is an open forum; submissions are subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. Please keep all comments civil and respectful.




After public comment, feedback, and committee discussion several changes have been made to the proposed amendments. We have re-opened the forum below for public comment on the updates as the waterways ordinance will be on the agenda for November's Public Facilities Committee meeting as a discussion item (no action). Please submit your comments by November 16 for consideration by the committee.

On September 15, 2025, the Public Facilities Committee discussed potential amendments to Beaufort County’s Waterway Ordinance. The item was deferred to the next Public Facilities Committee meeting to allow for additional citizen and business input. The proposed amendments can be viewed or downloaded using the links on this page.

The next Public Facilities Committee meeting will be held on October 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room, Arthur Horne Building, 104 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC 29902 (map).

    At Public Facilities on November 17, 2025, this item was requested to come back to committee in the new year for further discussion.
